The developer team of decentralized cryptocurrency exchange Uniswap emerged as champions of the Web3.0 dev gaming competition 0xmonaco also known as Battle of Titans. Uniswap competed with the likes of Ledger, Polygon, NEAR, Yield Guild Games, Chainlink, OKX, and Bybit. The competition was organized to determine which of these companies has the strongest technical staff.
Uniswap, Polygon, and security auditors OtterSec made it to the grand finale of this event which was run by Starkware-based on-chain gaming ecosystem MatchboxDAO and streamed on Twitch. These three competed in what could be likened to ‘the World Cup of the Web3 companies’. To everyone’s surprise, Uniswap claimed victory after a heated competition.
Each Web3.0 company’s dev team was expected to compete in a Mario Kart-style racing game where their technical ability will be tested.
The cars in the racing game were a representation of smart contracts and according to MatchboxDAO, it was a web3 version of “chess and poker.” Apart from their technical ability, the developers were expected to possess originality and agility.
Precisely, the teams needed to draft a plan for their car (smart contract) that would effectively maximize resources for accelerating, shooting shells, super shells, or purchasing a shield. All of these activities require the use of an in-game coin and each player is bestowed with 17,500 coins at the beginning of the game.
Uniswap takes the day in MatchboxDAO’s New Gaming Initiative
This dev competition is entirely different from what had been seen or experienced previously in the Web3.0 ecosystem. Daniel Gretzke, technical lead of smart contracts at Polygon Labs attested to the fact that it was a novel gaming approach.
“I’ve been in the Ethereum ecosystem since 2016. This is actually my first experience with a web3 game like this,” Gretzke said.
While it was a different kind of gaming, Jonathan Giamporcaro, a blockchain research and development engineer at Ledger mentioned that it was an exciting tournament especially as it gave developers a platform to showcase their talent and mastery. “I enjoy this type of competition because it allows you to show your skills.”
Meanwhile, renowned retail marketplace Amazon announce plans to launch a new Non-fungible token (NFT) gaming initiative in April as it steps into the crypto ecosystem.
