Bitcoin Cash [BCH] Mining Event Held Before Recent Houston Rockets Game
A few days back when the Houston Rockets took on the Boston Celtics on their home turf, the halftime show looked quite different than your usual dance/ musical performance based event. Since this time around, the intermission showcased two participants fighting it out to win a contest called the ‘Antpool Red Planet Race’. The game involved two individuals vying to ‘mine BCH while on the floor’ so as to win $300 worth of the premier digital currency.

Rockets’ Fans Get A Sneak Preview Of What Crypto Mining Looks Like
Over the course of the past few months, more and more people are becoming aware about Bitcoin and its other associated technologies. In this regard, during the recent Rockers-Celtics match that took place on Thursday, mining firm Antpool had a booth set up within the Toyota Centre so as to showcase the benefits of blockchain technology (as well as cryptocurrencies) to the masses.
As some of our regular readers may remember, a couple of months back Bitmain had announced that it would be sponsoring the Houston Rockets as well as pledging a total of $500 million towards the betterment of the Texan economy. At the time, the official documents of the agreement stated that Antpool would be allowed to hold an exhibition within the arena sometime during the early part of 2019 or during the latter half of December 2018.
When the initial agreement was first put to paper, Antpool’s overseas operations manager, Haijiao Li, was quoted as saying:
“As far as professional sports teams go, the Houston Rockets are legendary across the globe, and what better way to continue the momentum of our U.S. expansion than partnering with the prolific Houston Rockets basketball club, the No. 1 team in China,”
About The Race
For those interested in the matter, it is worth noting that all through the game, the Toyota Centre was flooded with BCH related symbolism as well as merchandise. Also, during the game, two contestants were asked to come up so as to help the announcer ‘mine’ bitcoin cash on the court floor.
As mentioned earlier, the game was dubbed ’Antpool Red Planet Race’ and the objective of the exercise was to “receive two deposits while ‘mining’ with Antpool’s native rig on the BCH chain. While the entire spectacle lasted for less than a minute, the winner of the event took home $300 dollars worth of BCH.
Final Take
It comes as no surprise that fans of Bitcoin Cash were quite excited to see their favorite altcoin garner mainstream traction at such a famous sports arena. With that out there, it is also worth mentioning that this news comes on the heels of another similar announcement wherein the Litecoin Foundation announced that it would soon be entering into a partnership with the UFC— thus allowing the crypto firm to advertise LTC symbols all across their canvas floor at an upcoming Ultimate Fighting Championship match.
