TRX (Tron) is currently the ninth largest cryptocurrency in the world in terms of market capitalization. The crypto has continued to make important strides in the crypto universe with each passing day. The Tron Foundation recently released a press release pertaining to what the crypto intends to do in the next few months.
According to the Foundation, Tron has made very big plans for BitTorrent for this year. It is worth noting that BitTorrent happens to have close to a hundred million monthly global users, which makes it one of the biggest Torrent platforms in existence today.
Tron Foundation made this announcement during the recent niTron conference held early this year. This is also the very first conference summit to ever be hosted by Tron. Justin Sun, the Founder and CEO of the Tron Foundation went on record stating that BitTorrent had made plans to launch a live streaming feature in the next couple of months.
Based on this announcement, it seems as though the launch of the live streaming feature will make up a big agenda for the entire team going forward. The reason being that by introducing this feature, the Torrent platform will be going head-to-head with some of the biggest tech giants in the industry today, e.g., Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook.
Tron Foundation Announcement
In the announcement, the Foundation stated that if everything went according to plan, the Tron platform would launch the live streaming feature in 2019. Justin Knoll, the project leader on the Atlas Project also had something to say about the BitTorrent protocol.
Knoll noted that the BTT (BitTorrent Token) complemented the BitTorrent incentive mechanism. He also went ahead to state that the speeds exhibited by BitTorrent would go a long way in helping enhance the new protocol. This is because it would be able to change the operational principles of the consumers.
Justin further stated that the Tron platform would be playing a very important role—that of connecting users to the BitTorrent protocol. By doing this, Tron will be making it easier for users to enjoy faster download speeds. According to him, the incentive mechanism that has been put into place will help encourage users to start seeding more on the Tron network.
BitTorrent speed, an application based on the blockchain platform was also unveiled by Justin Sun at the niTron summit. J. Walker a Twitter user took to the social networking platform to voice his sentiments on the anticipated launch.
According to J Walker, the only live streaming applications that you can use to reach large audiences with are social networking applications. He goes on to say that if the Tron Foundation could be able to develop this, together with business class moderator features, then they would no doubt be able to make a big impact.
Walker goes on to say that Bluejeans/WebC can only handle fifteen thousand live views, which is the main reason why people resort to using periscope. However, being able to leverage P2P networking with computing power also helps a lot.
