Forbes recently released its top 50 fintech companies for 2020, showing six blockchain and Bitcoin companies among the listed firms.
Forbes released its Fintech 50 list this week, which included six blockchain companies among the media outletâs compilation of top financial technology companies.Â
Carrying a âBlockchain and Bitcoinâ category tag, Forbes listed Axoni, Chainalysis, Coinbase, Everledger, MakerDao and Ripple amongst its top 50 fintech list for 2020, released on Feb. 12.Â
Other contenders on the list included companies such as Plaid, Opendoor and Lemonade, categorized under payments, real estate and insurance respectively.Â
Listed alphabetically
Spanning an array of categories within fintech, Forbes composed its 2020 list alphabetically.Â
Among the six blockchain and crypto-related categories, crypto exchange powerhouse Coinbase touted the most funding, at $525 million. Ripple came in second place with $293 million. Everledger posted the smallest funding base among listed crypto firms, at $20 million.Â
Located almost entirely in the U.S.Â
Forbes noted three similarities for the 50 fintech companies listed regarding shareholding, location and services.Â
âA couple things all our Fintech 50 2020 picks have in common: theyâre private companies with operations or customers in the U.S., and theyâre making it easier, faster and cheaper to use financial services,â the media outlet explained.
Of the 50 businesses listed, 48 call the U.S. home. The two remaining fintech players are based in London in the U.K.Â
