Save the date! The annual Helsinki based conference will be heading online-only this year. The perfect place for the games industry to do business will be Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki Digital alongside partner event Blockchain Gamer LIVE! Digital
Throughout the week of September 14-18, more than 1,500 attendees from all around the world will log on and hear from over 250 world-class speakers sharing their expert insight in user acquisition, development, industry trends, investment, monetisation, blockchain and more.
Finland is the spiritual home of mobile gaming, with some of the most exciting companies in the sector calling it their home, including the likes of Rovio and Supercell. That’s why Pocket Gamer – the leading mobile games brand – has hosted a business conference there every year since 2014.
The outbreak of COVID-19 has affected the games industry, with many conferences postponed, cancelled or moving to a digital format, including Pocket Gamer Connects. So unfortunately the Pocket Gamer event won’t be able to return to the wonderful city of Helsinki in person, but the industry will be able to connect digitally with Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki Digital.
And joining Pocket Gamer Connects will be Blockchain Gamer LIVE! Digital #1. It’s a separate conference exploring and celebrating the world of blockchain gaming, brought to you by the people behind the BlockchainGamer.biz website.
The events team is working hard to put together an amazing line-up for you. You can expect to see 21 conference tracks with 170 sessions providing hundreds of hours of content which will be streamed over Zoom (and also made available for on-demand viewing later). Over 280 speakers are booked, including top level representatives of Super Evil Megacorp, Square Enix, BANDAI NAMCO, Microsoft, Facebook, Riot Games, Sony Pictures, Entertainment, Housemarque, GAMEVIL COM2US, Ubisoft, Unity, NCSOFT, Niantic, Jam City and more.
You will also have access to a Discord channel and a 24-hour matchmaking and networking platform so you can connect with games industry representatives from around the world at a time that suits you both. It is expected that 70% of the attendees will be directly involved in the creation of games, either developers or publishers, and there will also be dedicated activities for investors.
Pocket Gamer will be running online side events throughout the week. These events include pitching, matchmaking, networking, mentoring sessions and fun seminars, including:
“- Investor Connector, for developers to meet investors
– Publisher SpeedMatch, for developers to meet publishers
– Big Indie Pitch, a competition for small studios to pitch games
– Pocket Jam #5, a game jam for indie developers
– IGDA Mentor Café, for developers to receive guidance
– Journalist Bar, where you can meet the media
– Careers Week, for jobseekers”

COO Dave Bradley says: “With hundreds of expert speakers ready to share their knowledge and insight, we are confident that we have assembled the best online conference in the games business. There will be content scheduled for all timezones, and you’ll be able to watch talks and panels later in your time too. And with over 1,500 people in our meeting platform, you can expect to meet potential business partners too. We love Helsinki and the Finnish game scene, but being able to run the event online this year means that even more people will be able to join us, from their home offices around the world.”

More than 27,000 industry professionals have attended the Pocket Gamer Connects international conference series since 2014. Since then, the roadshow has landed in the UK, Canada, USA, Finland, Hong Kong, Jordan and India with a genuinely international client base; on average, delegates from more than 45 countries attend each event – that’s risen to 68 countries since the event went online in 2020. In 2016, PG Connects became the biggest dedicated mobile games industry conference series in Europe and has stayed on top ever since. Every event has been bigger and better than the last, and since 2017 we’ve added VR/AR, PC, console and blockchain to the mix. Our Digital events in April and June smashed expectations with over 1,400 attendees. Previous speakers and delegates from all the key industry players include Supercell, King, Space Ape Games, Niantic, SYBO, Tencent, Mythical Games, Unity, Jam City, Skybound, Apple, Rovio, Disney, Super Evil Megacorp, Wargaming, Kabam, NetEase, NTT Docomo, Ubisoft, Facebook, Google, Square Enix, Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Gameloft, Sega, Capcom, Twitter, Snapchat, Twitch, NaturalMotion, N3TWORK and many, many, many more. And because Steel Media owns and operates the leading media in this space too, including PocketGamer.com, PocketGamer.biz and PCGamesInsider.biz, our events benefit from unrivalled press coverage. A combined website readership of well over a million users a month, 300,000 engaged Twitter followers, nearly 120,000 subscribers on YouTube, all await. Our events include opportunities – like a Journalist Bar (operating in Discord for our Digital events) – where you can show writers and editors your games.
