The Chainlink Community Grant Program provides financial resources to the many development teams and researchers building a more functional, accessible, and socially impactful Chainlink Network. We encourage talented individual developers and development teams to apply to the grant program here, or if you are a researcher and want to collaborate, contact us.
Weāre excited to announce that the blockchain development team at Volta has been selected as a recipient of a community grant to natively integrate Chainlink into the smart contract platform Edgeware. The grant is co-sponsored by Chainlink and Edgeware, with the goal of supporting the many development teams wanting to build with Chainlink oracles on Edgeware.
Having direct access to Chainlink opens up a vast array of new possibilities for externally-connected, decentralized applications on the Edgeware platform that can encompass various industries and use cases, such as DeFi, gaming, NFTs, insurance, and more. Most notably, the grant will establish support on Edgeware for Chainlink Price Feedsāready-made decentralized oracle networks that provide DeFi apps with high-quality financial market data in a hyper-reliable and tamper-proof manner.
As part of the grant, Volta will provide several key components to the integration, including:
- Validate and adapt Chainlink contracts to ensure native compatibility with Edgeware
- Test and deploy all Chainlink components to Edgeware mainnet, with continual maintenance and upgrades
- Provide an automated test to verify the integration of Edgeware and Chainlink using test node instances
- Create documentation showing how developers can integrate with Chainlink on Edgeware
Volta is a Wyoming-based distributed ledger technology-focused company agency that was founded in 2016 by a diverse team of blockchain developers and systems architects. They focus on the creation of secure, blockchain-agnostic software that empowers users across various verticals to easily leverage blockchain technology. The Volta team has created software in deployment across numerous blockchain projects, including Tendermint, Parts Pedigree, Menlo One, and RChain. By demonstrating extensive technical expertise, Volta makes for an ideal candidate for a grant to integrate Chainlink oracles with Edgeware.
Edgeware is a decentralized and community-driven smart contract platform within the Polkadot ecosystem, containing a community-managed treasury, decentralized proposal system, and network of DAOs. Edgeware is built using the Substrate blockchain framework, and offers full EVM-compatibility for Solidity contracts, in addition to supporting WebAssembly and the Rust programming languages. By combining these features, Edgeware aims to provide a next-generation experience for smart contract developers on Polkadot.
āWeāre glad to be awarded a Chainlink grant to expand support for Chainlinkās industry leading oracle network to the Edgeware smart contract platform,ā stated Nathan Windsor, CEO of Volta. āAs a team of industry experts with years of experience with blockchain technology, we look forward to adapting the Chainlink oracle technology stack into the Edgeware protocol, enabling developers to build a wide range of externally-connected smart contract applications for the DeFi ecosystem and beyond.ā
Through the Chainlink Community Grants program, we look forward to continuing to empower more and more Chainlink ecosystem teams, researchers, and social impact projects who are both researching and building key tools and infrastructure that accelerate the development of universally connected smart contracts, secure oracle networks, and impactful technology that improves the world. We will continue supporting the community as a key driver of Chainlinkās rapid growth, because only together can we make universally connected smart contracts into the dominant form of digital agreement.
