We’re excited to welcome Jill Kroeger to the Dragonchain Foundation Board of Directors. A senior project manager at Lexis-Nexis with a 20+ year history at the company, Jill possesses a wealth of experience in large scale data compliance and security systems. Her curious nature and practical creativity will be invaluable to realizing Dragonchain’s mission, and its continued development as a blockchain leader committed to transparency, security and open standards.
Having witnessed the trajectory of a variety of emerging technologies, Jill Kroeger sees blockchain today as on the verge of transformation from the “Wild West” to a place of standards and dependability. While the initial hype of blockchain has centered on cryptocurrency and related investment speculation, she says this will soon give way to fundamental security issues taking center stage.
“The future [of blockchain] is not how much will I make as an investment, but what does it do to protect me?” she says. “Can it protect my medical devices from being hacked? Will it protect my bank account? Will it keep me from having my email hacked?”
As a new board member, Jill sees enormous potential for Dragonchain to have a defining role in this historical moment.
“Much the same way that PayPal and Amazon changed the way we buy and pay for things and the way Facebook changed the social dynamics of society,” she says, “I believe Dragonchain is structured to lead the way in blockchain technology and shape how we ‘protect the castle’ .”
These views, and Jill’s background in highly sensitive and complex data systems at LexisNexis, make her a natural fit for the Foundation’s Board, given Dragonchain’s penchant for enabling just this type of emerging blockchain application. In her current role as a senior project manager, she is tasked with ensuring the data giant’s not-inconsequential security compliance obligations (which span a complex web of Federal/State/Local government and customer specific regulations, laws and contract needs).
Like many involved in the birthing of a new industry, though, Jill’s nature is both creative and technical/analytical. Indeed, it was Jill’s background in print, video and web design that first led her to LexisNexis, where she designed the original GUI of the first Web based legal research system in 1997.
This breadth gives her additional perspective in Dragonchain’s evolution.
“Being able to move from innovation to action is difficult,” says Jill. “I harness my experience as an Artist and Scientist to enhance my ability to look at a sea of items, draw connections that are not on the surface and prioritize them from a business value perspective, while aligning resources to complete the needs of the business.”
