Latest news about Bitcoin and all cryptocurrencies. Your daily crypto news habit.
In this January 2018 we started pretty strong with lots of new projects and a great sell off/correction that created the perfect moment to enter in crypto or to invest. In this article i’m focusing on my favourite picks for this January for traders who don’t wanna day trade or for who’s undecided of what to put in their long hold % of portfolio. It’s a mix between solid coins that everyone should have in portfolio, some coins that have already hit exchanges and have proven trackfield, and coins/tokens that are going to hit exchanges soon (giving us a good entry point being projects with high potential). I don’t know when that will happen, your job to track exchange listings and pick the best moment to invest. I will share some projects that in my opinion (remember: this is not investment advice, it’s just personal opinions) will behave properly in the market and deserve good marketcaps. My first rule is that i pick projects that have strong backing and potential use case. I like to daytrade sometimes but the majority of my stack is on long hold (weeks to months) and to do that without worrying i need to pick projects that i’m sure not only will exist in the future, but also will appreciate properly.
I’ll let this image speak for me:
edit: Deng is the big AI name in Matrix team. The CEO is actually Owen Tao, an high tech expert. I’m too lazy to edit the image.
Before going into details let me explain how i utilize targets: the target range is a realistic target that i set and should get reached by the time indicated. The lower target is when we intend to take out some investment and put stop losses. We can also take something out a bit before it hits that target if the chart will look over extended without corrections in weeks. When we enter the range we put stop losses at lower target, this is ESPECIALLY true if that happens before the indicated time. If we reach the upper range part BEFORE the indicated time, or we even get a coin valued more than the maximum prediction, then i would suggest to put very high stop losses and take out a large part of the investment: a correction is probably coming and anyway we will have better options to invest money. It’s obvious that rules in crypto change every day, with news announced and real world adoption, so my predictions can’t be 100% accurate, but being this a long hold article, we are picking projects that no matter what should not give us a loss. In the very unfortunate case that one or two happen to make us negative return (which is very unlikely in my opinion) the other ones will cover the losses without problems.
More detailed review of the picks:
Bitcoin: Bitcoin is the foundation of the cryptocurrency world. It is the most hyped crypto currency in the world and was the most adopted before the fees got out of hand. If you’re in this game for a bit longer you will know that Bitcoin is backed by Bilderberg, and it’s not random conspiracy babbling. But the point is that it’s not a negative thing. It’s a GREAT thing meaning that the controllers of the world want a piece of it, and that means that the chances that Bitcoin will be allowed in mainstream and not fought will be way higher. The current problem is high fees and slow transaction times. Lightning Network is going to totally solve that problem, while keeping BTC the most secure and decentralized PoW cryptocurrency. We can argue that LN will make Blockstream (the Bitcoin developers) and its investors really powerful and rich, but that’s always the case with money. Are you really thinking you are smarter than the world order? That we gonna somehow beat people that are ahead of the game by years and not only invested in BTC when you had not even heard of it, but actually bought it?On top of it Rootstock is also a feature that is being finalized and will give Bitcoin smart contracts. Yes, Bitcoin will steal the job to the current smart contracts platforms. Do you need more? Adoption is coming, and without black swan events there’s no reason at all that BTC wont always go higher in time. It’s becoming the global money.
Ethereum: Some diversification is good, and we have reasons to believe that Ethereum will make us solid gains at some point. First, people like strong leaders/personalities and Vitalik Buterin is probably the most important blockchain personality. He’s like Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg for the crypto world and his platform is actually comparable to Microsoft or Facebook in terms of how it deals with competitors and how it impacted its market in the right time. Plus the rumors of Ethereum Futures are always stronger. Ethereum Futures means manipulation, but if we have smart selling targets and know when to sell everything is good.Plasma/Casper/Raiden will improve Ethereum blockchain in everything that its needed and will keep it being the most important one with all probabilities. This said, it’s unlikely that in the near future there will be only one blockchain, so we can look at other picks for long hold with better potential return of investment, but always keep something in Ethereum due to it’s proven status.
NEO: The NEO economy is getting out of hand. Currently is a worse Ethereum but Trinity is working on scalability and soon there will be a project that will improve smart contract functions. I might write a focused article on NEO in couple months. Meanwhile make sure to read this:https://hackernoon.com/neo-onchain-and-its-ultimate-plan-dna-4c33e9b6bfaaand check this image: https://i.redd.it/9plecp0735901.png
VeChain Thor: I started buying this around 1.50$. Today we are at 6.16$. Since the start i witnessed huge manipulation in price, with many sell walls and bear traps. Weak hands and day traders should be careful with this project, but long holders should make a killing in the next couple months, cause soon VeChain (VET) will become VeChain Thor (VET) and will give THOR Power to holders. It’s almost exactly like NEO/GAS, a passive income.More info here: https://medium.com/@vechainofficial/vechain-apotheosis-part-ii-thor-power-forged-974111a93278With strong institutional partnerships already sealed and more coming, i think this is a safe pick for the next months. I’m not sure it will be good for very long term (1+ years) though, but we will think about that later.Notice: when i started to write this article VEN was around 5,80$, then 6.16$ when i did the recap image. At the moment it’s at the all-time high at 7.32$. For long hold it’s still very safe but we might expect a little correction somewhere in the next 2 weeks. That will be the safest entry point. It still doesn’t matter in the long hold scheme of things cause my prediction put’s it at an higher price. This is just a note for traders and a reminder to weak hands that everything should be fine even if this is all-time high price and you could see some red soon. Remember to diversify between good long holds or you will be emotionally unstable during red periods.
Ontology: Decentralized trust ecosystem is one of the missing points in the whole blockchain economy. Maybe there’s some existing one that you can point me to, but there’s surely no one solid and with strong backing and bright future like Ontology. They cancelled their ico so the demand will be high. It looks like they had a presale only for important/rich partners and are airdropping part of the tokens to the community. Apparently airdrop will be a whole 12% of the total tokens so we should be careful about general dumping, but regardless of that this is the typical project that will gain hype and shill around the internet.
Wanchain: ‘’Wanchain is creating a new distributed financial structure’’. Well, this project would probably require an article of its own. It’s ambitious to stupid degrees and with strong backing (important part, even i can make an ambitious project but it’s obviously not gonna have any credibility or chances of real delivery). https://wanchain.org/ check on the site all the features. Project is hyped a lot by who bought in ico so be careful in not buying late in the initial big pump.
Matrix: One of the most interesting blockchains that are out. The whitepaper is an incredible read and you can see that is done by people who knows what they are doing.Their team is world leaders in the AI, integrated chips, semiconductors and blockchain. Real scientists, i would say some of the biggest asian names if you follow the scene. Deng particularly is one of the most important world names in AI and a professor at Tsinghua university, that’s the chinese equivalent of US Harvard or MIT. This means that even if they claim crazy things they should be able to deliver and with such names and connections big partnerships won’t be a problem at all. Even institutional ones potentially. An image i found on internet that recaps Matrix:
Transaction output on biblical levels, no need for programming language to set up smart contracts, self evolving AI blockchain, some sort of PoW+PoS hybrid mining algorithm that is currently the best potential option (but their AI shoul be able to swap to any kind of mining i guess?).As said in my recap image a very large part of the circulating supply is owned by few big players. That can be an extremely good thing or a not so good thing. Given the low/mid initial ico marketcap (around 40mln$?) i doubt we will experience any hard dump: all the chances lead us to think that, as we want to 50x our investment, rich players want to do the same, wathever amounts they are putting in. So my bet is price manipulation at least until the next ico round (currently only 15% of tokens are in the hands of crowd, that’s not a good thing) in 2019, if Matrix will be big we will keep anyway, if not we will sell our position. Despite that i believe we will see massive gains in this 2018 due to hype, manipulation and market economics.
Gems: In crypto we have two critical needs non addressed: access to crypto and exchanges to the unbanked, and cryptocurrency to the poor. Gems will hit both of these problems at once, with an all star team that should be able to deliver without problems. With the advent of decentralized exchanges and virtual workplaces like this our world economy will actually change, this is a little step in the right direction for the crypto revolution. Follow it closely, when it starts being a serious workplace the price should go up to stupid levels, especially given an insane potential trade volume if millions of workers will work on it. Demand at the ico stage is strong and apparently the whitelist selection is pretty exclusive with Proof of Care programs. As you may know, depending on token metrics, PoC can be a double edged sword. We can predict a dump on exchange or a bull run. Which one will be? We will know soon when they will finalize token metrics and by following the future adoption of the project.
Bluzelle: Filecoin did a 250mln$ ico in 2017 and SiaCoin is currently at 1.5bln$ market cap. Bluzelle is aiming to be a data coin, which is very different from file coins. Data storage services generate billions of yearly revenue in $ which means a potential request and trading volume for Bluzelle.Hype alone should drive the price up, and real world adoption is possible at least in the crypto savvy world. We have seen how bad the current web options are when many users join a site crashing it. Bluzelle will prevent any of that, while being more secure, cheaper and faster. Why i think they should deliver? Well, their team is certainly decent, but i really like their advisors. it’s really big names: Brian Fox, GNU creator and currently working at one of the most important blockchain projects: Orchis Protocol. Prashant Malik, Ex Facebook, co-creator of Cassandra Apache and iOS expertize. Gil Penchina, ex internation manager of eBay. Alex Leverington, core Ethereum developer. Ryan Fugger, founder of the original Ripple Project.
This is what caught my attention in this January 2018. Remember to do some heavy research before investing in anything, to never put more money that you can afford to lose in cryptocurrency and that i am not giving investment advices.I will do in-depth reviews of single projects in the future. My first pick is Gems, expect a long and detailed article on it as soon as we have the ico structure. Ideal would be reviewing after checking adoption but if it gets adopted then it will be obvious and everyone will do articles on it, and anyway we are interested in good entry points that often coincide with the first days of exchange listings, that might happen before they become a working structure so we need to be ahead.
The next monthly picks article will be out in second mid of February 2018. We need to see how some icos will impact the market, the structure of some others, in what state proven marketcap currencies will be and obviously general crypto news. The next months are very interesting, especially cause we should expect a good increase in market cap due to new investors coming into crypto.
Disclaimer: english is not my first language (not even my second) and i don’t want to re-read all of this, if you find errors don’t sue me.Transparency disclaimer: I’m doing exactly what is stated in this article with my money. In mid January i distribuited my long hold stack (which is around 50% of my total portfolio) in BTC, ETH, NEO, VEN, MAN, BLZ (did ico: 0.6 ETH individual cap, did not partecipate in gas war for 3 ETH individual cap). Gonna find good entry points for Ontology, Wanchain, Bluzelle and Gems once they hit exchanges. It’s like a personal blog with no reason to lie, if you like my research and my picks feel free to clap to make it more relevant.
