Press Release
Two AI and web3 giants are teaming up to propel the AI industry to new heights. Fetch.ai, a Web3 platform for the new AI economy, and SingularityNET, the world’s first decentralized AI network and Artificial General Intelligence pioneers, are collaborating to tackle two critical challenge plaguing the industry: the tendency of large language models (LLMs) to “hallucinate” and the difficulty LLMs have with accurate multi-step reasoning. The partners plan to launch a series of products embodying their solutions to these challenges, beginning in 2024.
LLMs are prone to fabricating nonsensical or irrelevant outputs, a phenomenon known as “hallucination.” This hinders the accuracy and reliability of AI applications and raises concerns about the possibility of misinformation and bias.  Hallucination is one among several reasons that LLMs currently perform far below the human level in complex multi-stage reasoning, which limits their use in applications regarding planning, strategy and quantitative data. Fetch.ai and SingularityNET are teaming up to work toward solutions to these issues, leveraging their decentralized AI platforms to create AI models with superior reliability and reasoning ability.
The partnership aims to enable Web2 and Web3 developers to utilize these new models by employing traditional programming languages and simple, accessible APIs. Developers will be able to access the necessary tools to construct more reliable and reasoning-capable LLMs through Fetch.ai's DeltaV interface and SingularityNET’s AI APIs. This developer interface will merge LLMs and AI agents, establishing an open and dynamic marketplace that connects users to services powered by Fetch.ai and SingularityNET agents.
The technical core of the collaboration involves the use of decentralized infrastructure to connect LLMs with knowledge graphs and logical reasoning engines.  Fetch.ai and SingularityNET infrastructure provide powerful tools that can be used to combine multiple AI agents together to yield emergent intelligence in which the “whole is greater than the parts.”  Using these platforms to combine LLMs with knowledge graphs containing verified ground truth information, and with symbolic inference engines possessing ability to reason based on ground truth, provides a “neural-symbolic” path around many of the obstacles faced by the more fully LLM-centric AI architectures currently favored by Big Tech companies.
By eliminating hallucination and increasing reasoning ability, Fetch.ai and SingularityNET unlock new potential, paving the way for developing AI and agent-based commercial applications that are both powerful and trustworthy.
“This partnership marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of AI,” said Humayun Sheikh, Founder and CEO of Fetch.ai. “By joining forces with SingularityNET, we are empowering developers to build the next generation of AI applications that are both intelligent and hallucination-free so that we can pave the way for a future where society can benefit from productivity gains achieved with AI powered applications”
Ben Goertzel, Founder and CEO of SingularityNET: “Hallucination and limited reasoning capability have been major roadblocks for LLM adoption. By combining our neural-symbolic LLMs grounded using knowledge graphs and inference engines with Fetch.ai’s agent technology, we are providing a powerful toolset to overcome this challenge and unlock even more of what AI has to offer.  This work has tremendous near-term practical and commercial value, and is also an important step on our path toward beneficial decentralized AGI.”
