The Chief Marketing Strategist at Ripple – a distributed ledger start-up – has left his position at the start-up. Cory Johnson, the former strategist at Ripple, joined the company in early 2018 shortly after he had spent about eight years at Bloomberg TV.
A spokesperson at Ripple in the person of Tom Channick, verified the news shortly after it seemed that information on his Twitter account about his position at Ripple was taken off his profile.
Tom Channick said:
“Cory’s last year at Ripple was a success in representing the company to investors, press and regulators. Cory helped Ripple with strategy internally and overall industry education. But due to changes in market conditions, we’ve chosen to eliminate the role of Chief Market Strategist.”
Cory Johnson’s Move And Impact Regarding Ripple
At the time Cory Johnson was to move to Ripple last year, he revealed that the move was necessitated because he wanted to
“try and explain, listen and set strategies to make it easy for Wall Street and the world of finance to understand what we’re doing.”
Johnson was popularly known as a spokesman at Ripple as he repeatedly showed up many times in the media to discuss and promote Ripple and all its enticing deals and offers.
In 2018, Brad Garlinghouse – CEO of Ripple – had anticipated and predicted that many banks would have joined the Ripple platform before 2019. When Johnson was asked about this forecast, he put the responsibility on the banks and their disappointing inability to offer a resolution to the custody issue. However, he also said that there is still a lot to be done and that a lot of investigations and considerations are going on.
“I sat with a bunch of people, a major customer, yesterday and there were 10 people in the room they had a lot of questions but I’ll also tell you when there are 10 people in the room there no deal getting signed. So there’s still some exploration happening and I don’t know where our customer count is going to be,”
