The migration of top executives from established financial firms to crypto companies continues. This time, it is LJ Brock, who was a Senior Manager at Citadel who joined Coinbase.
Citadel LLC is an American global financial institution which was founded in 1990 by Kenneth C. Griffin. The company operates two primary businesses: Citadel, one of the world's largest alternative asset managers with more than US$25 billion in assets under management; and Citadel Securities, one of the leading market makers in the world, trading products including equities, equity options, and interest rate swaps for retail and institutional clients.
They are one of only three percent of hedge funds that have been in existence for more than 20 years. The company has more than 1,400 employees, with headquarters in Chicago, and offices throughout North America, Asia, and Europe.
Along with the responsibilities of being the Senior Managing Director of Citadel, he was the Cheif People Officer too. Prior to working with Citadel, he was the Vice President of Global Talent Group and People Infrastructure at Red Hat. He served there for over 8 years. In total, Brock has over 20 years of experience with HR which Coinbase wants to utilize.
Even Brian Armstrong, the CEO of Coinbase is excited about the new hire and in an E-Mail to the entire Coinbase staff, he said that Brock will fit well with the company’s culture. A Coinbase, Brock is expected to oversee both recruitment and internal cohesion as the company scales. He is expected to join the company at the end of the month.
Coinbase has been on a hiring spree recently, Quito Zuba who was the Global Head of Trading Operations at Thomson Reuters to work as the head of market operations. This hire was done for Coinbase to improve its investor market strategy. Almost at the same time, they hired former Abide Financial Director Mark Kelly as the UK head of compliance.
