Online precious metals dealer Hero Bullion officially opened its doors to cryptocurrency users earlier this week. Customers are now able to choose from 13 different cryptocurrencies to pay for gold, silver, and other bullion products.
The company uses BitPay to support its cryptocurrency payment processing. BitPay was a clear choice. Since 2011, the secure crypto payment processing platform has been the go-to for companies across multiple industries.
Founded in 2019, Hero Bullion has become one of the fastest growing bullion dealers on the market. The introduction of a crypto payment option helps bring Hero Bullion’s competitive precious metal prices to an entirely new class of customers. The company’s message is a positive one for cryptocurrency enthusiasts looking for signs of mass adoption. It appears that a crypto payment option for gold, silver, and platinum is becoming an industry standard for precious metal dealers.
Founder and CEO Jake Haugen was similarly excited about the new payment platform on his website. “As we continued to grow, it became clear that we really needed a way to diversify our accepted payment options,” he said.
To Haugen, adding an option for cryptocurrency payments was motivated by more than profit.
“Cryptocurrency and precious metals share a common function - they’re non-traditional investments. If someone wants to build their portfolio without being over-reliant on fiat currency, we should have payment options that work for those investors.”
Haugen isn’t wrong. Both bullion and cryptocurrencies help investors divest themselves from traditional assets like stocks, bonds, and futures. Although the investments serve different functions in the average portfolio, the overlap between gold stackers and Bitcoin bulls certainly isn’t surprising to anyone paying close attention to the market.
Hero Bullion’s influence as a precious metals dealer has grown exponentially in the five short years since the company was founded.
The company’s decision to embrace cryptocurrency as a payment option further cements their position as one of the fiercest competitors in the bullion sector. For fans of cryptocurrency, the move spells opportunity.
